Abre el ojo
In Abre el ojo reigns a kind of vaudeville in which the joy of living rules, and we find no trace of that concept of gallant and pure love that usually governs our golden comedies. The adventures of these authentic “cheeks” mark the development and humor of this cynical comedy, as Felipe Pedraza called it.
Fidelity? Ideal love? Constancy? Marriages? Containment of sexual desires? Don’t expect to see any of this in comedy.
