¡Ay, Carmela!
Carmela and Paulino are two revue actors who, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, perform in Republican Spain. Due to a mistake they cross the lines and are taken prisoner by the Francoists. They ordered them to put on a show for their troops that included a parody against the Republic, to make fun of the international brigaders who were to be shot. Carmela, indignant, spontaneously subverts the parody despite the desperate attempts of the apocado Paulino, and ends up being shot as well. Paulino is left alone and has no other consolation than to get drunk and receive visits from Carmela’s spirit.
