Carmina Burana

Carl Orff composed his Carmina Burana between 1935 and 1936, and was based on 24 poems from the original codex found in 1803. The original title of the work Carmina Burana (secular songs for singers and choirs to be sung with magical instruments and images) is the starting point of the show that La Fura dels Baus has created. La Fura dels Baus has conceived a fast-paced Carmina Burana, where the viewer, through shocking scenes, special effects and even fragrances, is immersed in the forceful and visceral music of Carl Orff. A show with live music and more than 50 artists on stage. On stage, a cylinder ten meters in diameter literally surrounds the orchestra, while the images projected on it illustrate the work from beginning to end: a giant moon, the thaw, a floral ecstasy, a live grape harvest, the taverns, singers hanging from cranes or submerged in water, wine and fire… “O Fortuna!”
