Don Quijote
The ballet DON QUIJOTE will have its premiere on December 26, 1869 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, inspired by an episode of the famous novel L’Enginyós Hidalgo, Don Quixote de la Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes i Saavedra. The Cuban version will be presented for the first time on July 6, 1988 at the Gran Teatre de l’Havana. Alicia Alonso points out that since 1950 the company had incorporated the great pas de deux of the III Act into its repertoire.
Alicia Alonso will direct a curated effort based on the legitimacy of folklore references in all musical aspects.
