El Avaro
“El Avaro” is one of Molière’s masterpieces. This old man lives terrified by an obsessive fear: that the trunk where he has hidden his treasure will be stolen. He distrusts everyone, even his children. The work shows the meanest and most selfish side of human beings, where the problems generated by money and power are taken to the extreme. At the same time, the mistreatment that Harpagon gives to his employees and his exacerbated sexism are perceived.
