El Lago de los cisnes, Ballet Ópera Nacional de Rumanía
Tchaikovsky composed his first ballet, Swan Lake, in 1875–76, based on the libretto by Vladimir Beghicev and Vasili Geltzer, which conveys the idea of good and true love conquering evil, centering on the “swan maiden,” a symbol of purity and femininity, and her beloved Siegfried, whose honest love succeeds in breaking the spell that has held her captive. The current production directed by Vasile Solomon is faithful to the original classical character.
