1952. Luis Mariano is in Madrid filming Imperial Violets. Between Carmen Sevilla and him there is a close friendship that both know cannot become love, given the singer’s sexual preferences. But Luis is willing to put an end to the gossip and asks the actress to marry him. Carmen does not understand Luis’s anxiety to “heterosexualize” his life. And the tenor hides a powerful reason: his parents, exiled at the beginning of the Civil War, want to return to Spain. And he wants to ask Franco to allow it. And if to achieve that end he has to renounce his true self, he is willing. Carmen refuses to participate in a marriage of convenience, but she promises to help her.
