TALES BEHIND THE CURTAIN: Euskal mitología

When I was a child, I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I answered without hesitation that I wanted to be a grandmother. Because in my family, grandmothers told stories when storytelling was not yet a profession but a way of being people. One of the grandmothers was a Basque speaker and her stories spoke of characters from Basque mythology. This repertoire tells of some of these essential beings of my land: protectors of the waters or the forests, creatures of the night, the creation of the world…
